My name is Dedayo Adeloye (Oluwatobi Adeloye), although most people know me as The Lagos Bearded Guy. Over time, the nickname has become more than a personal brand—it’s become a creative identity built around storytelling, innovation, and helping brands connect with people through authentic content.
Winning the YouTube One Location, One Shot Challenge remains one of the highlights of my creative journey. The challenge required filmmakers to tell a complete story using a single location and one continuous shot. It pushed me to think beyond traditional filmmaking and reminded me that creativity isn’t about having more resources—it’s about making the most of what you have.
I was born and raised in Agege, Lagos, a place that taught me resilience, creativity, and resourcefulness. Lagos moves fast, and growing up there naturally shaped how I tell stories today. The city’s energy continues to influence my work, my personality, and the way I create content.
I’ve always enjoyed telling stories. What started with writing scripts and producing short films gradually evolved into content creation, filmmaking, brand storytelling, and creative strategy. Over time, I realized that I wasn’t just interested in creating beautiful visuals—I wanted to create work that solves problems, influences decisions, and leaves a lasting impression.
Every nomination and award reminds me that consistency matters. I’m grateful to have been recognized, including nominations for the SME100Africa 25 Under 25 Awards, but I see recognition as motivation rather than the destination. There’s still so much I want to build and explore.
I enjoy projects that force me to think differently. Creative constraints often produce the best ideas. Whether it’s producing multiple ads within 48 hours, experimenting with AI storytelling, or exploring new content formats, I believe growth happens when you’re willing to attempt what others consider difficult.
I’m constantly exploring new ways to tell stories through technology, creativity, and entertainment. My goal is to continue creating original projects that inspire people while helping brands communicate in more meaningful ways. The future will involve even more experimentation with AI, branded storytelling, filmmaking, and ambitious creative challenges.
